Sandra is an experienced social researcher with a background
in
clinical psychology and psychotherapy. Sandra draws on her experience
in academia and as a practitioner to develop meaningful insights for
clients.
Sandra has worked as a research psychologist and research consultant on
for organisations including the West Yorkshire Police, the University
of Leeds, and York City Council. Projects delivered include those
concerned with the factors affecting uptake of free school meals; older
adult perspectives on the physical changes associated with ageing; the
housing needs of people with long-term mental health problems;
police-social worker child interviewing techniques; and the
psychological underpinnings of pre-menstrual tension.
Sandra has also
taught qualitative and quantitative research methods at the University
of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University.
After qualifying as a
clinical psychologist in 1991, Sandra worked as a psychotherapist in
adult mental health, both privately and in the NHS. She practiced for
ten years as an expert witness, assessing clients and providing
evidence to the courts, in the field of mental health and trauma.
Sandra holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from the
University of Leeds, a Master of Science degree in Social Research
Methodology from Strathclyde University and a Master of Arts degree in
Psychology from the University of Glasgow.
